We in the distracted modern church often find ourselves wandering far from Him. How can we find our way back? By relearning (or learning for the first time) how to stay in step with God in our inner lives of faith.

The Puritans were masters of keeping hold of God through the complex maze of life. In the new book Walking with God in a Stumbling World, we get to know five well-loved Puritan ministers and hear their wise counsel -- distilled and made accessible, but not dumbed down.

Is something missing in your walk with God?

Find a comfortable chair, sit down with these godly ministers, and grow in your walk with God by:

  • Developing a better understanding of your relationship with our Triune God

  • Learning how to keep your heart more free of sin

  • Understanding the blueprint for biblical meditation

  • Discovering the key to praying "without ceasing"

  • Grasping how God's will works in your life

  • Nurturing contentment in a discontented world

“Do you ever feel that life is too short to read every theological classic?

Perhaps you feel that way about the works of the Puritans, who wrote hundreds of deep, soul-enriching books on doctrinal and practical topics alike. In this book, however, you will have the opportunity to relish six Puritan books condensed to the length of one. With tasteful brevity, Heather Malmberg introduces some of the finest Puritan classics to us, including Communion with God by John Owen, The Art of Meditation by Edmund Calamy, and The Mystery of Providence by John Flavel.

Each summary is interwoven with captivating stories from the lives of the Puritans—vignettes which are often based on historical events in their ministries. As a gifted writer with a fertile imagination, the author makes the Puritans feel closer, more accessible, and more human to a modern readership.

Use this book devotionally or for leisure reading; by doing so, your soul will be filled with many heavenly meditations.”

"We need to recover the Puritans.

Most of the Puritans were the equivalent of post-doctoral students in their maturity and walk with God, while, alas, most 21st-century Christians are still flailing around, trying to complete our second or third time through spiritual Kindergarten. We need the Puritans today, urgently. And Heather Malmberg's new book will help us reclaim their spiritual maturity, their comprehensive theology, and their practical application of God's Word to the disciplines of the Christian life.

I highly recommend that every church get multiple copies of this book and use it as a guide to further a more in-depth study of these Titans of the Faith."

About the author

H.B. Malmberg currently lives in Oklahoma with her husband, daughter, and two needy cats. God used her love of thick, old books to draw her to Himself through the means of a Bible gifted to her from an unknown Sunday School teacher.

This love also eventually led her to the Puritans. She thought she might write a book that was less thick so that we can all benefit from the rich spiritual heritage we have in them -- even those people who can't stand old-book smell. SDG
